Farewell Ike!

Remember Ike? He was the little pond slider that Myla found after Hurricane Ike. His shell was badly injured and bleeding and we knew he wouldn't survive without some intervention. He has healed quite nicely and he is getting antsy to go back to the wild. So after 7 months it was time to let Ike go.

We took him to a nearby bayou. We knew it would be a good home for him because when we had a storm earlier this year a twenty pound slider lost his way and walked into the road. Luckily Dan was there and saved him and put him back into the bayou. So at least we know that Ike will have at least one friend in his new home.

Henry and Heidi at the bayou saying goodbye

Ike was excited to get into the water, his legs were squirming.

One last picture

Goodbye Ike! We will miss you. Good luck with your life in the bayou.
