Austin may be weird, but it's AWESOME!!!

This past weekend-ish we went to Austin for a quick trip before I start school. We had never been to Austin before and we LOVED it. Austin is such an awesome city. We did a lot of outdoor activities, and it felt like more of a trip for the dogs than us, but we still had fun!

When we got to Austin we "hiked" Mt. Bonnell. It was such a nice view of the Colorado River and Lake Travis.

We also went to the BEST dog park that we have ever been to. It was AWESOME!!! And so beautiful too. The dogs loved it. The best part was that the dog park was an island. Very seclusive.

Can you believe that's a dog park? Too pretty!

Obviously the dogs were in heaven

Henry spent a lot of time in the Bjorn and his car seat. He was a trooper.

We also had the pleasure of visiting the Capital of Texas san doggies. The Capital Building was so lovely.
This is the original fencing from 1888.

Dan and Henry enjoying the day.

So lovely

Henry really found the Capital to be quite interesting.

We also went to this AWESOME all vegetarian restaurant. I loved the sign too, because people always ask "what do you eat," when they find out that we are vegetarian. I guess I just enjoyed the sarcasm of "vegetable entrees? Man Austin is weird!"

Of course we had to stop and see the Congress Bridge Bats, the largest urban bat colony in the United States. At it's peak 1.5 million bats inhabit this bridge.

When you get close you can hear the bats squeaking. The picture doesn't do it justice, but the bats just kept coming out...we left after about 20 minutes and they were still flying around. Crazy!

Lastly, we went to WoofStock 2009. We just kind of ran into this event, but we are sure glad we did. The dogs loved it.

Dan thought it was so funny that Henry is reaching for my tofu spring roll from Miso Hungry.

Dan and the pups.

In conclusion: Austin is AWESOME!!

So fun. I miss Texas. San Antonia is also fun to visit. I don't know about with dogs, though. In grade school we always visited the Alamo. I went back a couple years ago and it was tiny. When your ten it feels huge, but it's part of my Texas heritage.

Sounds like fun. Kat's fiance has a shirt that says "Keep Austin Wierd." He served his mission there. Anyway- I want to be invited to see Henry's scrap blog :) Love ya!
