The Things Our Bodies Can Do

I was reading about the 30 servicemen that were recently killed in a terrible incident when their helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan and was struck by two things. First, all of their families and friends said that though they were sad to see their loved ones go and that they were in no hurry to die they went doing the thing they loved. Second, I was amazed at how tough these guys were! As you probably know they were made up of Navy Seals, Special Forces and a couple other top secret affiliations.

What I found incredibly intimidating is that even though most of them were right around my own age they had trained their bodies in a completely different way than I have and as a result they were in far superior shape both physically and mentally. Many of the bios mentioned involvement in Iron Man competitions, marathons and other extreme fitness programs.

I find it amazing because this is what these men did with the bodies God gave them. They trained and programmed their physical bodies to cope with some of the most grueling circumstances and when they were no longer able to deal with the situation they found a way to keep going. It gives me faith that maybe I can train my body and mind to handle any endeavor thrown at me...right?

In a less sad example check out this video that demonstrates another example of how one can train and discipline their body and mind to do amazing things:

I've seen some reports on a few of those service men. They were amazing. I've also seen the clip of Evan catching the ball. How did he know it was coming? Does he have a 6th sense or eyes in the back of his head?

Hey Daniel!
I'm thrilled to see that you still serve our country, and that you have a job that I...dare I say covet?!

All the Best!
