Pet Peeve #798

Why do people insist on bringing their cell phones to church? Are you really that important that you can't give your full attention and dedication to God for three hours a week? Ok, maybe you are a trauma surgeon, on call and you have to have your phone with you-but I am pretty sure every make and model of cell phone has a VIBRATE option. I just say this because every Sunday without fail, someone's phone rings. Today it was to the theme song of Looney Toons! Not only are you distractive, but disrespectful to the other congregants, and to our Heavenly Father. Cell phones at church are lame. And that is pet peeve #798.

Maybe you should mention something about it during testimony meeting.

I completely agree with you, but I am surprised at how many pet peeves you have. What's #799?

I'm always cautious to call people's cell phones during the day on Sunday because I'm afraid they might be in church and forgot to turn of their cell phone. I think people just don't think about the fact that their cell phone is in their purse or whatever. Its more absent mindedness than disrespect. What bugs me is one time someone's phone rang in church and she answered it and was having a whispering conversation right during relief society. Now that is disrespectful!

I just realized that when I quit going to church, people didn't really have cell phones. So this is a whole new phenomena for me, but I can see how it would drive me bananas!

Laura has a good point. And I like Kira's suggestion.
